Casey Parkinson uses clay to create a diverse range of wheel-thrown pottery, sculpture, and installation art. Her sculptural art pieces are influenced by the natural surroundings of Louisiana, where she grew up as well as Seattle, Washington, where she resides currently. Current themes of her work include flower petals from roses and camellias combined with sculpted and thrown ceramic pieces to create novel textures, shapes, and forms.
Casey attended Southeastern Louisiana University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree concentrating in Ceramics in 2008. She obtained a Master of Fine Arts from Louisiana Tech University in 2014. Casey has completed artist residences at Anderson Ranch Art Center in 2016, Snowmass Village, Colorado and at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art 2017 – 2019, Salt Lake City, UT. Casey’s award-winning artwork has been featured in national and international juried exhibitions and published in various periodicals including the New York Times. Casey has enjoyed teaching art at community centers in Seattle and as a secondary art teacher in public high schools and currently lives in Seattle, WA, with her husband and three children, where she continues to create from her home studio.
